Or Kotlin, which is much more “Java but good” as it even runs on the JVM

Rust is as much of a Java killer as C++ is. You could say Rust is the C++ killer, but I really don’t see how Rust would be that comparable to Java, which operates at a higher level instead of memory and pointer management. IMO, Kotlin is the Java killer.
@Sean Not all devices support passkeys.
Unmemorizable passwords are not the kind I like to use. I’d rather be able to login on some random incognito guest computer.
@joeldebruijn Ah, that makes much more sense. I guess this could be also used for phishing, but that may be unavoidable.
@Sean Nice pun :D
I don’t think requiring users to use a really long and virtually unmemorizable password (the private key) would be a pretty good idea for a social network either.
@maegul How would servers share accounts and passwords? Allowing any server to know what a user’s password should be is not very good for security.
Han people are the main ethnicity of China; they aren’t the Uyghurs, if that’s what you mean
Say, many would agree that Han people in China are oppressed. They have a ton of middle-class citizens who are free to leave the country, they just don’t want to permanently due to not thinking it’d be better.
Same applies to Threads, though maybe a stronger case for leaving.
Let’s put it this way: Just because they live under an oppressive regime doesn’t mean we should be mean to them and keep them isolated in their evil bubble.
As in you’re using the service, but that doesn’t mean you two are one and make the same decisions.
Users ≠ Company
Apple and Android already have them, unless you didn’t fill it in.
You can switch to Kotlin Native, which depends on C libraries, or Kotlin JS, which depends on whatever libraries your JS runner has. No matter whatever Oracle has done, they produce a pretty good library, API spec and OpenJDK.
