I’m no coder.
Fediverse is worse than Reddit. Mod abuse, admin abuse, disinformation and people circle jerking each other off like they have it all figured out.
I’m no coder.
I’ll stick with mbin.
Fewer barriers to entry? A forum is just a simple registration, usually with email confirmation and maybe a captcha once. Facebook wants real life personal information, blocks VPNs and nowadays I think you have to even provide phone numbers or a custom video of yourself. Discord, ON EVERY LOGIN, wants me to solve a 2 level captcha that loves to repeat itself multiple times and to do a two factor authentication while being just a bloated confusing mess of a chat. Reddit also now blocks VPNs like crazy and loves to shadowban you if you’re inactive for a while (or whatever random reason they went with that I cannot think of).
They’re the absolute worst possible choices and exclude countless of people.
Definitely not for me. The UI looks worse than Lemmy, which I already can’t get behind.
Hard pass.
I didn’t cherry pick a statement. I included the part where they said the very first draft.
You quoted the whole part, but only addressed the first half of it, contradicting the second one in the process. Saying they may not be able to incorporate feedback into the first release is a very different statement than saying they may not be able to incorporate feedback at all.
*into the first release. Not just cherry picking statements but also failing to explain how that is a power grab.
I literally do not, but keep up your delusions and mental gymnastics to make up stupid fantasy arguments.
Duh…? lol Is your reading comprehension broken or something? I even gave you a freaking range of scenarios. I’m literally using mbin for various parts of the Fediverse, including Lemmy and Mastodon. I think I have a pretty good grasp of it.
I had a look at it a while ago and almost everything I searched for was in Portuguese. Not a big issue for me since I don’t really understand and consequently not use those type of platforms anyway but I kinda felt that would probably stop a wide adaptation with English speaking people.
Moderation that happens on the Fediverse…? I’m not sure where you’re struggling to understand the combination of those words.
Even if, they don’t really speak English, let alone German. You can see it on Bluesky that the majority of posts are in Portuguese.
If you speak Portuguese maybe.
The fediverse moderation is either nonexistent, having disinformation, Tankies and terrorist simps flourish, or being mod abusive like on Reddit where mods react selectively and based on their mood.
Because I don’t have the time nor interest for those constant bad faith arguments on this fucking platform. You questioning my opinion that this is an issue that we need to overcome means that you feel the Fediverse should stay small. I’ve heard this argument way too often already and it is nothing but a stupid circlejerk from people who pat themselves on the back for feeling superior over their choice to quit Reddit and to be “different”.
And now you’re gaslighting me. What a great human being to talk to.
I’m not even going to entertain this moronic point you’re trying to make. If you want to stay in some sort of tiny social media bubble I’d simply suggest you host your own instance and just defederate from everyone and everything. Then you have all your small scale communications with yourself for yourself.
TIL Wordpress is using ActivityPub. I think one issue we have is how hard it is to find instances, communities, or even other media like this, since they won’t even show up in your search if they’re not already federated with your instance. And since many servers block crawlers, it is hard to index them externally too. I think that really limits the reach and the perceived size of the Fediverse.
They do bad faith trolling though.
