If that’s what it is the the way they’re doing it is beyond obnoxious because I can’t just block the whole thing. If I wanted reddit comments then I would be using reddit.

Fuck Meta and all but this isn’t news. Meta litterally said straight up that they would be doing this before threads ever launched. If you have an instagram account then that is also your threads account. This isn’t some conspiracy it’s exactly what they told everyone they were doing. It’s no diferent than linked accounts for google services.
I’m trying to respond from Lemmy so I’m not sure how this will show up with the microblog thing.
The “rule” posts are from a community called 196. It used to be 195 at one point on reddit and then became 196 when that community got removed for some reason (I think the mod left). The number came from someones dorm number. Here on the fediverse there are multiple 195 and 196 communities cropping up. They’re more or less just for meme posting but they also tend to be very trans inclusive. The reason a lot of the posts have rule in the title is because one of the informal rules in those communities is that if you stop in then you have to post something before you leave. It has just kind of become a thing to put rule in the title of those posts to show that you’re complying with the rule.
Will that also block all users from that instance? I was under the impression that it just blocked posts from that instance showing up in your feed.
Did we really need yet another reddit mirroring bot?
