Well I wish you luck in finding what you’re looking for, but Lemmy/Kbin by definition isn’t it.

Any community that isn’t 100% fully owned and operated by you, yourself, Mango, is going to run into the risk of a mod ‘censoring’ or deleting something that you wanna see.

Any and every community. Here, Reddit, Facebook, any social media, any forum public or private. If you yourself don’t own and run it in its entirely, that’s a problem you cannot avoid.

So I mean this without any real intended offense but: shit or get off the pot. Run your own community that connects to no other system or service run by other people and hope the people you wanna talk to drop by, or tbh get used to it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You can, it’s called hosting your own instance. It’s literally one of the points of the Fediverse (i.e. ‘Fuck you I don’t like how you’re running things, I’ll go make my own with blackjack and hookers’). If an instance admin does things you don’t like, you get to leave, go to a new instance, and follow the same communities you did before via that one instead.

1 part ‘Meta users ‘already have’ an account so getting into it is easy’, mixed with 1 part ‘The slightest possibility of inconvenience (like having to choose a Mastodon server) acts as a deterrent to most people when alternative means are available’.

I prefer Mastodon too lol

So I’m on Kbin.social right now. Let’s say I wanna view our gaming community. like how Reddit has:

Reddit.com/r/Subredditname

I would go to:

kbin.social/m/magazinename

You on lemmy.world would go to:

lemmy.world/c/communityname

Super simple so far I hope lol. Same url format, just a C instead of an R on lemmy, and M instead of an R on kbin.

Let’s say I on kbin wanna see your gaming community. If I did kbin.social/m/gaming, I would get mine. The url though can act like how an email address does, by adding a domain to the end of it. So if I did kbin.social/m/[email protected], I’ll see your gaming community. Same if you do lemmy.world/c/gaming you see yours, but lemmy.world/c/[email protected] you should see ours.

If I got those URL’s right that is lol

Both kbin and lemmy instances do also have other ways to get to other instances to sub, but the instructions I provided are based just on the url so it should work for anyone while ya get used to the UI and new platform and whatnot.

Right now I have a Beehaw account, and a kbin account. I decided to go with kbin overall, but if kbin screwed the pooch tomorrow I technically have a back up to continue on largely unfettered.

That being said I’m 40 and I don’t have time for this shit anymore. I’m at the point now where the moment the next medium-level-annoyance occurs I’m just gonna start deleting bookmarks and moving on with my life. Ain’t got no time for this shit. I can get my news in a million other places without Reddit, Lemmy, Beehaw, Jigsaw, Yeehaw or what-the-fuck-ever-else lol.

Most people named a lot of the games I would have, so I’m gonna give a shout out to probably the first proper video game I ever played: Mixed Up Mother Goose. Can still remember slowly walking around, trying to figure out what the shit was going on lol.

Have been using RSS feeds almost 20 years now, since Google Reader and with Feedly since Reader was deprecated.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single piece of news come across Reddit in any of the interests I follow that I haven’t also seen via rss feeds +/- an hour of it’s posting.

Illusion of Gaia (SNES) - Lots of people play Soul Blazer or Terranigma but forget about the great game in between them.

The early Harvest Moons - If you’re a HM or Stardew Valley or whatever-other-farming-sim fan: Don’t neglect the earlier games. They had a lot of charm without packing in 20 million things to do.

Zelda: The Minish Cap - We all have a top 5 Zelda games list in our heads, and any of us who doesn’t have Minish Cap in it that list is incorrect.
