We care about making our community a welcoming space, a little home on the internet. We care about stopping trolls that see the word “Disney” and want to cause as much damage as possible.

Funny enough with how beehaw is defederating from a bunch of instances that pose a threat to disturbing the safe positive vibes here seems like beehaw would be a good place to start that community here. And help reduce modding oversight with how instances with users who step over the line repeatedly can get the entire instance defederated like what happened to lemmy.world.

I’m not sure how open or closed kbin is to walling off groups that are potentially hostile.

I ended up giving on custom launchers after that and going with what was included on the phone or custom rom. So not sure which ones are good alternatives.

It was cool seeing years of comments get wiped. I could see why some people would purge their history every year even before the reddit controversy. It’s cleansing in a way.

I was wondering if I should delete all or leave some of my posts, but seeing subs I subscribed to come back was what made me decide to just wipe everything. Can’t do anything about the mods or what other users do, so felt like deleting stuff was the one tiny bit of control I had over the situation. Which itself is nothing, but at least it’s something.

Yeah, the wikis came in clutch a lot of times for me. Really well done with how organized they were for the ones that had them.

I had gotten in habit of clearing out my save list to save the links of comments or posts I liked and making sure to do a back up with archive.org, since comments disappearing was an issue before this.

Will do the same for some comments I had made before deleting it all.

I would consider it if YouTube had built in sponsorblock since I find YouTube videos unwatchable without it that I don’t bother casting videos to the TV, and go through other methods to retain sponsorblock functionality.

I think what would help is the introduction of multisubreddit equivalent for lemmy and then allowing similar duplicate communities to have the option of linking up with each other so people can subscribe to public multisubreddit. So regardless of what instance a community is on if it’s like a technology community it’ll display all the technology community duplicates.

Reddit without niche subs would probably become a aggregate for tiktok, Instagram, and Twitter videos. Which it has been trending towards when it comes to what reddit displays to users as default.

That’s awesome. Starting a community is cool but starting their own instance is next level.

Don’t underestimate the power of spite.

I had been hoping for some reddit alternative to emerge just in case, but whenever that happened it would be due to hate groups leading the movement making the sites that opened up become unappealing.

But, then something that finally angered more mainstream audiences is leading the charge, and finally led to the reddit alternative filled with less deranged people. It won’t overtake reddit, but it doesn’t need to.

I can’t see myself doing subscription models for social media. One of the reasons I stopped even trying to find new apps on iOS was that I’d keep running into subscription apps instead of ones I could buy outright. And why on Android I started moving to Foss alternatives.
