My migration was primarily driven by threading, voting, and ads.

Behold, the Trihole
There is definitely a LOT of half ass activity pub projects floating around. Everyone wants to start a new thing, but few people want to mature and maintain something someone else started.
We need more people doing the latter. We don’t need another half-finished client. We have those in spades.
TIL Kbin died.
What’s about donating bear cub corpses to Kennedy?
If you’re interested in supporting Vance, Ashley Furniture gift cards are preferred.

Sorry, long day and I’m pretty tired. I mistook “comm” as communications, not community.
A couple of thoughts on the timeliness critique.
One of the big reasons that the removals, reports and comms take forever is because the mod tools are trash. People simply don’t see the notifications until they log in to the web app and look in the header.
Another reason that stuff takes forever is because people don’t volunteer to mod. Lemmy world videos has had requests for moderators out for weeks. Next to know one wants to volunteer their time to help the community.
If we want fast moderation, we need more eyes. Especially since Lemmy doesn’t really do a great job of sending notifications.
Admins. Thank you. Users. Thank you.

Your state or county is probably using what was identified as an easy and accessible solution several years ago. It was probably selected because it was something any yahoo could easily access and post to.
Now that there are a lot of cheap and easy FOSS alternatives, it probably wouldn’t be too hard to petition for a ballot initiative that required these alerts to be published on a state masto instance or something.
Exactly, and that’s most of the users.
That’s just the link the local cops pasted into the alert form. They can put in a link to hampsterdance.com if they wanted to.
Maybe I’m missing something, but I thought you could only upvote / downvote posts. Comments were just a thread, and whoever commented first was at the top.
Hence why a lot of our early shitposting was just commenting “first” as soon as an interesting post when live.
