  • Good insights! Yeah if it gives you a mental/emotional boost then it’s pretty worth it, especially since that’ll translate well to the rest of your day.

Why I asked my original question is because I’m currently on those meal kit things, and the one I’m subscribed to sends the food fully cooked and ready to eat, you just have to pop it in the microwave. And it’s pretty tasty stuff, doesn’t look too preprocessed. But it does get expensive. So I was considering the alternative of cooking daily to save money, which sounds funny because 99.9% of people probably do that.

And I’m kinda on the fence about meal prepping because the idea of eating the same thing a few days in a row doesn’t really appeal to me.

I guess I’ll find out this week which is more sustainable for my situation!

  • Great on the eyes and I’m sure it was delicious!

    I made an effort here

This is my biggest hurdle most days. I live alone so that much effort for something that I’ll probably consume in about 10-15 minutes, in the middle of the workday, is kinda hard for me to reconcile. Is it worth it? And I don’t mean in the “self-care is always worth it” kind of way. 😂

  • “iusearchlinux.fyi” is one of the greatest domain names ever.

This is really cool, but yeah I’m hoping that a similar directory will exist for kbin down the line. I noticed when using the magazine search function here that magazines local to the instance get listed first which is fine, but there’s no way to sort the threads/comments columns by highest to lowest. Sometimes you just want to be able to subscribe to one community/magazine which is the most active for a particular category and not clutter up your feed, even if those are on beehaw or lemmy.world.

  • My most memorable gaming moment would be when I beat Magus in Chrono Trigger for the first time. The build-up to this bad-ass of a character was intense. The whole first part of the game had you thinking he was the final boss. He had everything: a cult worshiping him in 600 AD, ominous music, bumbling henchmen and a castle surrounded in shadows and mists.

For those who’ve played the game, who can forget when you first come to his room? Everything’s black, there’s this scary weird chanting in the background, you’re running into the darkness. Suddenly, blue flames burst to life on either side of your party. Oh yeah, this is it.

You find him facing an altar, in bad-ass pose mode, arms outstretched. A few exchanges of short, characteristic dialogue. Cue in music.

“The black wind begins to blow…”

    And it begins.

I died like 5 times before I beat him. But getting beat by Magus, especially when you’re around 13-14 years old and really into CT’s story, could not get any more exhilarating and jarring at the same time. Of course, after I got Crono’s Luminaire, it was all over. Still, one of my best memories growing up, especially since I loved the archetype of the anti-hero.

Second best gaming moment would be when I found him again after the fall of Zeal, only to find out you can have him as a party member! I never thought twice about what I wanted. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever done a playthrough of CT without choosing Magus to fight alongside me, even to this day.
