Hey, I remember your issue with the latest
tag! Shame I missed the spawn of sublinks.
That fix is for another issue. I’ve had to do it once already, other admins - twice. It’s a bug since at least 0.18.4
Lemmy.cafe
It should show up as part of my profile as well.
I’m happy to take residents, although I’ve not been limiting it to UK as feddit.uk had sort of taken that at the time.
Does my comment reach anyone?
As a fellow UK instance owner - gimme a shout if you need a hand with the setup!
So… Am I missing something or are you suggesting an oligopoly, elected by a monopoly?
Thanks, this gave me a genuine chuckle :)
I myself use cross-posting as a bookmark in my instance. Not a deal breaker, but would prefer to keep doing that.
Depends on the instances.
I, however, have simply limited the upload size to 100kB.
For those of you like me, who had never paid attention to such buttons - they jump across parent comments, so you don’t have to scroll if the chain becomes boring.
Hold on, this is real? Not some April Fool’s joke?
I’ve recently learnt of a project called Whoogle. It’s still on my things to check out
list, so can’t vouch for it myself, but I’ve heard good things about it.
It would be awesome, however I’m a bit skeptical on the technical possibilities around. While I think it’s definitely doable, the amount of inter-node chatter this can cause could be massive. And then at some point somebody would absolutely try to import a user who has never asked to be exported in the first place. Massive DDoS potential.
I really hate sounding like a naysayer, but I’m wouldn’t be holding my breath out for this one.
You could just announce it on reddit and establish a community here. People follow content. A website has a pull, but it’s much smaller than content itself.
You can always ask the owner of the instance to get your sub list directly from the database. I know I wouldn’t mind.
Adding it to your own might be cumbersome, but it’s a thing you only do once
I like being here. A bit part of it is my desire to host my own stuff. I’ve never been much of a contributor on Reddit, but now that my instance is reporting to have some actual users it just feels so rewarding! Love the sense of the earlier decentralized internet.
Need for Speed Underground. Both of them.
I’ve been running mine for just over 5 years now - initial setup was ass, but it’s very much hands off now - email simply doesn’t change anymore.
If you have a domain to test - I can host it for you. If you then decide that it works well enough for you - I’ll show you how to set it up on your own server.
