  • I assume both are kind of a backup/plan B instances

I know that Lemmy blahaj have been holding back updating their Lemmy for quite some time waiting for another back end if I understand it right.

regardless of my thinking out loud, glad to see more piefed adoption. it really is great especially the new users on boarding. app situation is slowly getting better, but truth be told, I’m fine with using piefed on mobile browser.

  • I assume it got worse because lenovo bought the smartphone division of Motorola years ago. Back then, yeah they were the bomb. I still look back fondly of my Moto Z Play. Its astounding what they did with it. Such “paltry” specs but it ran like a champ. Bloat from future android versions and moto getting acquired by lenovo put it down sadly.

  • I use Thunder on Android for my lemmy.zip account.

Interstellar for my kbin.earth and fedia.io accounts.

Trying out piefed with piefed.social because of their Topics and custom feeds. No “release ready” mobile apps yet, but IIRC either Interstellar or Thunder is trying out supporting piefed.

I think I’m going to like piefed for the custom feeds. That’s my most missed function from reddit, the multireddits. Their default Topics works well enough, but I have my opinions on it, and piefed allow I can set my own.

I don’t really use other fedithings. I’m like the normies, I want some kind of algo-feeding for microblogging and whatever instagram is categorised as, except for the threadiverse/reddit-like.
