I sure hope the devs and admins of the major instances think differently, but if they don‘t and the entire protocol turns to some halfway proprietary shitshow forcing us to use Meta to access most of it, I‘ll come and find you to write “I told you so.” Or I guess I won‘t, cause I‘ll be hiding on some abandoned part of the fediverse which can‘t communicate with you anymore cause Meta won‘t let me without signing up for their ads.

I‘m here because corporations are a collection of moldy, parasitic assholes who enshittify platforms, how anyone can be on here and still have this naive trust in them is what truly confounds me.
If they were willing to participate in good faith and share traffic, or anything at all, why not just go ahead and spin up their little instance? Why the sketchy NDA shit? Why come for the admins and devs?
All they want is a monopoly on our data and on how the fediverse works, this move by them is nothing but an attempt to snuff out this blossoming community (aka competition).
They dress it up in doublespeak to make it seem beneficial to us, but if they get enough admins and devs on their side, those people will come to regret it in a few years when their community has no activity stemming from itself anymore and is overshadowed by some proprietary Meta nonsense they foolishly (or greedily if money is involved) signed up for.
I hope you are right, I do enjoy the entirety of the fediverse and I would be fine to visit the pro-corporation spaces who aren’t owned by one a bit as well.
I still think I need to find a strongly opposed place to hang out though just in case anyway.
I think it probably does matter, as the intrusion could still be felt in various ways. For example, if kbin federates with Meta and I block the Meta instance which I assume would be huge and filled with millions, I‘d be surrounded by a bunch of people who communicate with ghosts and see things I don’t. Imagine if all top level comments in a kbin thread came from Meta, it‘d be empty to me. That is not even going into the risk of them buying out the admin to enforce various Meta rules or in other ways affecting the experience I have.
Now if that happens to an instance I am merely visiting, ok fine, but the one I’m from and mainly in, that would feel alienating.
So my goal is to be on an instance which aligns with me on this, so I don’t have to bother the pro-corporation people with my rants about the corporations either, I don’t even fault them for their view as it’s the “rational profitable majority view” in the world I guess. It make sense to accept it, but I can’t, at least not online. I just want like one space I can retreat to with people who aren‘t like that.
Perhaps I need to make my own instance if none can be found.
Not for me either, I see that as supporting corporations as long as the state runs them.
I kinda just picked kbin cause it looked nice, it‘s just now I realised I will have to consider this more carefully.
Maybe I should have clarified, state run corporations also don‘t do it for me. So something out of both of these power spheres would be ideal.

The only reason they‘d have the fediverse on their radar is banning it in favour for some platform that lobbied them, like say Meta.
Anyway, luckily this is a global and decentralised thing and I for one like not waiting around for a government to think, decide and do anything and everything ever for me. I‘d rather find an instance admin who doesn‘t sell out at the first sign of a dollar.
If that takes me spinning up my own instances to contribute to that and have at least one place which doesn‘t sell out, I guess I will.

Lemmy devs made some sort of post where they said their priorities right now are stability and bug fixes.
Depends on how the instance is set up, there is also an allow list mode where everything is blocked by default.
Binding of Issac, for me one of the few games I could probably continue playing for a decade and still enjoy.
Slay the Spire is a strong contender, but overall the Isaac devs seem more like they would be swayed to create even more content for me.

A lot of banks here around me are closing cause they want people to use the online banking only, customer service barely existed in a long time now already anyway, but specifically for the TAN you need an app and thus smartphone. Not an issue for me personally as I‘m tied to all this through my job anyway, but for old people and technologically illiterate people it must feel pretty dystopian.
I enjoyed the underlying anarchist texts to the movement like Bullshit Jobs by Graeber, The Abolition of Work by Bob Black etc. but yeah discussion of that was minimal and the more people arrived the less there was and I‘m also sure none of that ever made it to r/all.
Ironically, I have a great manager and wonderful job, I just dislike the system as a whole due to a) people around me suffering b) bad experiences growing up I been exploited with internships as somewhat of a cleaner. Thus I like our cleaners more than the CEO and if I were in charge I‘d pay them better too.
Anyway, the biggest advocates for r/antiwork in my mind aren‘t some mods, it‘s actually people like Musk or spez who can‘t help but treat anyone working class like trash and rabble. They push this mentality of everyone should kiss their feet or they deserve to become homeless. As long as they are around, such a movement will persist. I mean it even exists in supposedly-communist China with tang ping and they try to censor it a lot harder, haha good luck! Either they treat people well and foster a positive and engaging work culture or a counterculture arises naturally.
