Just block ads with a DNS blocker, eg NextDNS
Hi! I’m British, I like music (grime, garage, hip-hop, R&B, and more!). I like art, culture, history, politics, & doomscrolling memes.
Also a touch of programming :)

Just block ads with a DNS blocker, eg NextDNS
I’m honestly surprised when I encounter people on Lemmy who … don’t block ads, but also hate them?
May I introduce you to NextDNS/AdGuard. All it takes is a simple change in your phone’s DNS settings and boom, no ads in your phone.
It’s depressing how much I see this apps data misread. I feel like DDG needs to implement some sort of disclaimer.
It is misleading for link aggregator apps - any link that you click on or preload that has trackers, will appear, hence why the numbers are so high. It’s not Sync itself that’s doing this, it’s the content that gets posted here…
You will see something similar on any other link aggregator app.
It’s usually the fault of your insatnce (in this case, lemmy.world). It may be worth exporting your subscriptions and migrating to another instance if this is an annoyance.
Usually, clearing app data/cache fixes this, if the issue with the instance itself has been solved.
already exists, [email protected] and [email protected]
there’s also [email protected] or [email protected]
Either block the community or block the bot. The latter is the better option, imo.
This is doable in-app, go to the bots profile page and there should be a block button.
ooh didn’t know Summit had this, might make it my main.
I agree, this is an essential feature for all lemmy apps imo
You have to be careful with image hosts though. Who knows how long Lemmy images will last? at least Imgur has been around for a decade+.
NextDNS blocks trackers too
