It’s also just… a lot nicer, in all aspects. Like, it’s generally refreshing to use.
Sure, but using mastodon isn’t exactly a bank breaker (and that’s if you bother hosting your own).
It’s a quick way to send important information, I would hazard a yes.
Several weeks ago the only way I knew about a forest fire down the street was because of twitter.
Amazing to me that a nonprofit can do it, but my local police department, state forest fire service, etc etc, cannot and are stuck on twithell and fuckbook.

Reddit has informed the moderators of those subreddits that it has plans to replace resistant moderation teams to keep spaces “open and accessible to users.”
Honestly entirely predictable. Should really be a wake up call to moderators and communities that haven’t gone dark that Reddit, Inc is not trustworthy (just like how spez has been willing to edit posts).
Good luck to Reddit trying to moderate 5000 new communities and not devolve into Twitter 2.
Good hopefully more researchers follow suit - Musk’s actions and support of misinformation directly contradicts every scientific ideal.
