Numbers can be fun if you play with them a bit. We may not always agree but I’ll be your friend if you ever need one.

This summarizes exactly how I felt. Thank you.
I agree, this isn’t the right way to go about the change.
You’re right but I still won’t be shedding a tear for them. Even if this hacker is just trying to take advantage of the situation, I’m kind of glad Spez is getting the spanking he deserves. This isn’t the first time Reddit has pissed off it’s user base and this isn’t the first time they have gone to war with 3rd party apps. This time though, it seems to be biting them in the ass and I am happy about that.
Karma is a bitch. It’s not like they didn’t just pull the same crap with the 3rd party apps. They literally painted a target on their back by spitting in their users face. I’m not endorsing or condoning this but I’m not at all surprised, especially after the “Landed Gentry” dig.
@mike It’s formatted well but whenever I click the link it 404’s on me for kbin. I know the server is getting some big upgrades and is under a lot of strain right now, so that might be a factor to consider, at least as far as kbin is concerned.
@mike Interesting, I haven’t really messed around too much with Mastodon. I’ve been primarily been using kbin and I’ve been happy with just this so far.
I don’t really have that issue but I realize most people do. I prefer to use the web client for desktop and the app for iOS. Privacy and encryption is a huge pain in the ass and it comes with a lot of inconvenience, but the flip side is knowing that I paid for a service that is going to do it’s best to keep my data secure and most importantly, not look at it. When I heard microsoft was reading peoples emails and unlocking files in onecloud I was floored. I can’t believe we trust these companies with any type of messaging service.
I switched to protonmail and I am really happy with that decision. Not saying that’s the right client for you but I upgraded as well after using it for free for several months which gave me the drive, the calendar and the vpn also. The vpn works great on iOS and it does work on Linux Mint, but the GUI version is awful, skip that and just use the cli. The drive is really cool and it encrypts all the data. The calendar seems kind of pointless but it’s encrypted so that’s cool I guess.
@bryan I think those communities might go down with that server. So it’s important that others spin up other instances. This doesn’t mean each community needs its own copy of every community, but some communities can exist on one server and if one goes down others can migrate. I’m looking into starting up an instance as well. Even if it’s only me on there it’s nice to know the only person who will take it down is myself 😅
What was your biggest issue?
I am going to work on spinning up my own Kbin instance this weekend. I’ve always wanted to launch a server and finally I have an excuse to actually try and do it.
Not only that but what a complete loser of a “businessman” Elon turned out to be. Can’t even pay your obligations…
