You have to remember one thing, writing or speaking of a language is not a fixed scientific law or math formula that will stay true through out history. A living language is always moving and evolving in most of its components, be a vocabulary, grammar, or even meaning of words/phrases. We are just entering an era where AI generated content someone might feel appealing and follow that style, compare to copy a contemporary popular writer.

I don’t know how far you did in terms of BotW, but the way it works burn me out(upgrading gears and inventory slots) so this time around I just decide to dupe stuff. It make the work feel a lot more like a good play ground for exploration compare to really constraint weird grind fest. Let’s use your zonite example as material source.

• can you play without farming zonaite and not even upgrade your base battery? Yes, in my early hours without dupe knowledge I managed to unlock all skytower and defeat some harder area mob that defends tower without using anything duped.(I basically started looking for duping because of the reason coming up next.)
• can you finish the game wihtout zonaite gathering? I believe so, it’s not even used if you are not using auto build in the over world.
• max battery requires 4500 charges, while realistically without too complex builds that use energy draining components too much, just 4~5 batteries upgraded should cover a lot of usage. BUT, even that lowers the freedom when you are on a quest to explore “fast”. 4~5 batteries just requires about 1/3 of total amount so about 200~300ish large zonaite. And they give you 1 for quest reward or from chests.
• zonaite charges(the one that fill battery and gives you a bit of red charge even mid using your thing) and auto builds are the supposed zonaite burner. In terms of game design, they want this resource to dump into things that enable you do do something fun or interesting. charges and construct parts are the main thing to exchange capsules. And this is what breaks it for me once I realized how much work I need to do to start feeling freedom building shits and put them to work. If you play it like BotW, it just feels like a side thing that’s fun when you have it. But I don’t want to play it like BotW, I want to have the freedom to build stuff and use them as I like. Which needs a lot of capsules and a lot of zonaites for autobuilds(when the parts are from memory instead of capsules. )
• since you can’t use auto build or capsules in shrines, so getting lots of these dups doesn’t break the puzzle. Can you like ride fan-attached machines all the way to destination temples/area without exploring? I guess you can, I don’t know since I didn’t do that. For my first 2 temples, I still follow quest lines etc.

But it made my korok shipping SO MUCH FUN compare to without duping those charges/autobuild parts. Like it literally changes the boring and repetitive quests(like holding the sign in place ones) into a fun experiment platforms. Duping the parts also make fusing a lot less “punishing” as some of the better parts are required to upgrade as well. I don’t have to “conserve” just go whacking and don’t get too annoyed like BotW when weapons break. (as most of the damage comes from fusing, not the weapon states.)

Note, I haven’t even build homes etc to dup weapons/bows/shields, and it just unlocks the game so much without the gathering grind. (so the old blood moon weapon/material gather runs is no longer needed.) Like, yeah, I really don’t have that much free time to dedicate to one game, so if I have the option to by pass any grind mechanics that also doesn’t “break” the game, I am gonna just do it.

remember to not update the software and lock it to whatever version you initially have. It’s gonna be very hard to amass resources if you aren’t planning to use dup exploits or play it for a very long time. (preferably pre 1.1.2)

You can’t block instance as a user, but you can either block the spam box account, or visit the instance and list all their current communities and then add all of them to your block list.

This is one of the user end feature that really should exist.(it’s on the github issue list already.)

I think a blind trust of such list is kinda dangerous. But a common place where admins and user can tag and rate instances and hosted communities can be a good start.

Asia is like Line, and maybe some other Chinese apps that I will never install.

The interesting part is, email is still working fine as alternative. I didn’t install any other message app cause email and whatever next iteration of gchat for me is enough. ( I will probably slowly migrate to proton email and some 3rd party cloud storage hosting instead of just use gmail and google drive for photos.)

But yeah, for the less tech oriented population, overcome the hurdle of use different app is really huge obstacles. (Like my mom still tries to share things with me through Line app, even though I teach her how to use email a couple times. it made search for older shares much easier.)

yeah, I think beehaw is in the right to decide this part of feature and it’s up to the server admins. User can choose how they want to respond to that as well and I’ve seen different reaction as well.

If anyone wants to see just how hard it is to maintain lemmy in current state, just hop over to “All” and set the sorting to “New”. For the record, during the past couple days, I already blocked 14 bot accounts and 9 community that used bots. I had to because other wise I can’t discovery communities I might have interested in when browsing “All”. And that’s also after some work that was put in by the lemmy.ca admin.

And, if you don’t want all the drama, you can always spin up your instance or join a less populated server.

I think the % is much higher cause even I sometimes say stuff like “I believe like 80% of my post is about games”. But the reality is that I never actually tried to count it.

Wait until you see number pads that the numbers are shuffled after each use. Good thing it’s not common.

It’s a self fulfilling conditioning that:

• you love something(or thought you love something if you read the follow points)
• you dedicate time to make it better, like building your own themepark or rollercoaster tycoon
• you are in the god view and have control over almost every aspect of the community
• you feel the need and urge to keep those people the visit your themepark happy and engaged
• the time and effort you put in(sunken cost) actually have value to the mods, but not the visitors
• if something bad is threaten to happen to the thing you cared about, you have similar if not stronger emotional response when the author killed your favorite character in the show you loved a lot.

It might be mentally closer to threaten to take away your loved dog/cat cause in reality you bonded with that identity but you don’t actually own the sub.

There are a little bit of variation for other stuff, but they have their templates. Say if you look for some specific thing “the earliest super nova documented” then chances are it will guide you to wikipedia or some valid sources.

But if your search term contains anything that was trending on google, say if you search some hot game’s tip, etc. There will be pages and pages of AI generated contents, from some domain you don’t really recognize. (so better put ign or gamefaq or Fextralife/fandom wiki as search term now. )

I also don’t see the ad with ad block, but when you see the not working weird space or failed embeded blocks, sometimes a same site reference link etc to other not related topics(highly likely to have finger printing) it’s like “okay, fuck, they got me again.”

Let’s not forget bot/AI generated websites that just copy paste some irrelevant content template but fits your search terms, and then feeds you tons of ads when you thought you found answers to your questions.

I spend about 2 days gathering communities that I want to sub for and make sure they are subbed. Then starting yesterday I just need to click the subscribe tab and switch to “New” and there is usually ~10 new posts every 2 hours. I don’t even visit the “All” or “local” tabs anymore. If I run into something I feel not enough, I will just search for the community instead of waiting for them to pop up in “All”.

I do not doubt that they are archiving stuff on their end as well because it makes sense in case of a successful attack on their database that wipes stuff.

However, for EU they have to comply with the forget me requests. And for other parts of the world you can just “keep” the account and do your thing to delete modify comments. What are reddits gonna do? take over % of user’s account and then restore, change password and revoke access? what kind of message would that send to other reddit users?

• you can visit cache page until it expired or replaced by recent ones.
• users that contributed more wiki/fag like posts/comments probably archives their comment somewhere before they delete them.
• there is always alternative when the previous one shutdown or closed due to reasons.
• the find me on lemmy with instance tag is a valid way to redirect the user. (so long as reddit don’t auto mod those messages into nothing.)
