Nobody likes a sucker, especially the kind that fall for fruit tarts like you. I knew there was trouble. I could smell it on the hot evening breeze. Fortunately for me, trouble is my favorite thing… Because I’m Joe Milkshake. I kicked down the door with one swift, decisive motion.

Oh boy, “I don’t hate men at all. I have a son.” That’s a tough read overall.
Yeah, if I go to Reddit I go for something specific, e.g. discussion about certain sci-fi series, which is definitely more lively there than here, simply because of higher user count.
Before this post I had never even heard of Discuit.
This is fucking hilarious.
The entire time since that announcement last year dropped I have been using the modified Infinity for Reddit client that has my own API code in it.
I told myself if that stops working, whatever, I will not try to keep the app up to date and I will not switch apps. Lemmy works well enough for me now.
Up to this day the few times I have been accessing reddit through it I have no issues whatsoever. Amazing. Then again I never tried while they had issues with their official app, I suppose. Unless that is right now as I type this, because right now my app is still working fine.
A perfect score? Wow!
Uh, did you check what is being posted on writefreely instances? It is no link aggregator, there is no competition with Lemmy at all.
Yea its “[email protected]”
Somewhere in there hides a Peter Griffin meme
Yep, today I have seen a dozen or more instances of some account from some obscure server making their only post with just a picture of a spam can.
Those are only the ones that go through, I am sure there is probably a lot more than the ones I saw.
Honestly, if in this day and age you build your personal brand and business on a free to use commercial platform, you should calculate in the inherent risk that this will backfire on you. After all the incidents with different platforms causing issues for creators/influencers, I am not sure that is still worth the risk.
Yeah, with that headline I am not very inclined to read this.
Yes, that was a big issue for fmhy.ml too
Yes and no, if you have enough users you do not need federation for a server to not feel empty. But overall many servers do not have that many users, so federation with larger ones is essential.
Shows once again that federation is useful since other servers are running and you could post that message.
On the other hand, sucks if you had your main account on that server because now you start from scratch. I am not even talking about your lost posts and comments, more about community subscriptions. Quite annoying to get that all in place again. I used to have an account on the fmhy.ml instance, it was not fun…
Ah ok, thanks for clarifying. But how do you know its alts of the same people? I mean, if they use same emails then sure, but then you’d need access to both servers to compare that. I guess doesn’t really matter in the end because its the same result, whether they are from the other server or not.
Ok, question then since I haven’t seen it this way.
So these dudes are on server x, but post crap in a community on server y, if I got you correct? Server x is known to host problematic content. If other servers now decide to defederate with server x, as the source of that group of people, will they still see posts of them on server y? If yes, then the only solution is for server y to defederate, which I guess is what you are writing about.
If this is true, should this not be addressed upstream in Lemmy? I wonder why if you defederate from a whole server you would still want to see their comments on other servers they are connected to. But maybe thats not possible?
Aaah, now I get it. You guys made an account to post on. I saw the headline and I was busting my head how in the world a search engine would federate within the fediverse…
