Nope. I don’t talk about myself like that.

  • So if all this work was done to determine that the phone layout is simply better than the calculator layout… why the fuck are we still using the calculator layout on anything?

And screw you OP for bringing this up. Now I want to remap my 10-key to phone layout to see if that’s “better”… I already had important stuff to do this weekend that I’m totally going to ignore now because this irrationally bothers me that I didn’t realize this before.

  • I don’t think this is necessarily a defederation issue. I’m running a private instance and should not really have been defederated as nothing comes from my instance except 2 users (of which I’m the more vocal of the 2 of us). I run into the problem you outline all the same. My version will show 2 comments, the origin server will show 11. Sometimes even completely different comments and none of the instances show to be blocking me on their /instance page.

I’m not on either feddit.de, lemm.ee, or lemmy.world’s lists. I still run into this.

What I think is going on is simply hiccups in federation. Instances where one of the instances misses sending an ActivityPub message to all parties and that’s it.

But let’s even say that I am currently defederated. From my understanding this is a temporary measure until stuff settles down a bit.

  • I run Firefox

    • AdNauseam (One step further than uBlock Origin, it actively clicks everything that missed my DNS blocks)
    • Bitwarden
    • Decentraleyes
    • Enhance-O-Tron for Plex (For some reason some videos in my library have black bars hard coded into them. I could probably re-encode them to get rid of the bars, but this add-on just hides the bars at a button click. It’s only a problem for monitors wider than 16:9)
    • Enhancer for Youtube ™ (Automatically expand the canvas out to the full screen and a bunch of other stuff.)
    • Facebook Container (I don’t use facebook, but the containers are nice to keep shit separated)
    • Keepa - Amazon Price Tracker
    • NoScript
    • Redirect AMP to HTML
    • ShareX ( I have workflows that automatically store stuff into my nextcloud and setup share links)
    • SponsorBlock for Youtube - Skip Sponsorships
    • Stylus

I had stuff for Reddit… but since I’ve moved off the platform, that’s been nixed. And for those of you using the cookie accepting apps… Why not just block the element with uBlock?

  • Impersonation - Not sure this matters unless you’re a mod or admin. Spamming - Just make the accounts yourself… it’s going to be infinitely easier to just make spam accounts from nothing (since it’s free anyway) than to designate resources to cracking a password. Deletion/Modification of history - modlogs allow reverting ALL changes outside of full account deletion. Full account deletion - Well that’s annoying at the very least. But not like it’s the end of the world or has any actual cost associated with it.

It’s a lot of work to do so little actual damage. It’s not like twitter where hacking Elon’s account can actually lead to monetary gain.

  • Oh yeah… It’s not even close.

“You don’t understand tech” as they show you how the UI of a very particular website works… As if that’s an understanding of switching, routing, networking, sysadmin, virtualization, Operating systems, apache(nginx or alternatives…), php (or similar), html, databases… etc… The list is massive… but yes sweet child! I don’t understand technology! Meanwhile that list of technologies needed to make that specific UI “Technology” work is black boxes to them.

It’s very odd… I might have shitty memory as a 30+year old now… but I really don’t recall being that obtuse about stuff when I was younger.
