So like I said, if people don’t like what they add, we just won’t add it. Why should we bend over backwards, also EEE is a Microsoft thing more than anything. It won’t kill decentralisation it would just prove that companies like that are shit.

So how would they take PixelFed, Mastodon, Lemmy & Kbin / Mbin? They can only try add a feature and if the rest of the Fediverse doesn’t like it, they won’t add it to there own platforms,
Yeah and I’m not going to stop using my instance I love it to much, Maybe I will boot up my own personal one if anything. Just glad more people will hopefully understand and can use the Fediverse
Yes if certain instances don’t like Threads they can de-federate from it, and I’m sure a few will, Personally I think it should be down to user choice as the users on Threads aren’t to bad it’s the company that is.
The problem is there’s only so far that the general userbase will grow without the fall off big tech, the only one that is close to falling is X formally Twitter and I don’t think most people want those sorts of people on here, not yet at least.
Sure you might be right in the way of the Fediverse growing but either way big tech is goanna want to join the Fediverse sooner or later, we might as well try and get as many users to jump the Big Tech ship and move to these platforms.
Yes I get that but the only way people will feel like they can move across is by other bigger ‘projects’ being made like Threads that integrate and teach people the basics of the Fediverse before they possibly push off to Mastodon, Lemmy, Kbin, PixelFed, Ext.
This is a good step even if the people behind it are terrible hopefully having people interact with other communities will push people to move over to them instead of being in control of META or other big companies.
I’m just glad we will be able to interact with those few people that won’t use the rest of the Fediverse but stay on Threads.
The only benefit is that the Fediverse will have potentially more users as well as companies possibly following in METAs steps and integrating ActivityPub. This is a beneficial step for the internet but only time will tell how it actually plays out.
Yeah I really do hope they focus on federate in the near future as well as it will allow a wider audience of people to join the Fediverse without having to explain it. Knowing they are still working on the platform is at least a slight positive to them wanting to make it a go to platform for people.
Probably the type of content, do you have a platform you prefer using as there are most likely Fediverse alternatives to them.
It’s not that I can’t make a magazine, it’s just it won’t be looked at or be used as an official one. So it would be worthless creating one
They do but it would be nice to have a place to talk about it in a Magazine instead of having to go to external sites
I do love Mbin, I just wish we had an area instead of Matrix to talk about things that we want and stuff.
Yeah it would be nice to see some other coders ideas on the Fediverse. If I knew the first thing when it came to coding I would creating something that would work me, don’t get me wrong I love the Fediverse and what everyones done just sometimes it feels there’s a few things missing
@melroy It’s good you’ve worked out the channels are groups / magazines. Sadly I’m not a coder myself so can’t really help on that part, my main goal is spread the word of the Fediverse as a user as well as try and see areas where we can improve as I feel as a user it’s good to see what we might ‘need’ on these amazing platforms like Mbin.
@debounced eventually I’ll work out how to create my own instance but amazing to know that it is simple to migrate if I had a Kbin instance.
@Ashyr Yes most of this is correct, from what Ernest has mentioned he has taken a step back due to personal issues in his life, he’s an amazing developer and glad he made Kbin. The Mbin developers are further alone and have already created an API as well as fixed a lot of bugs, glad to be on board and hope Ernest is feeling better soon.
@ReedLindwurm The Fork was created as there’s a few things that the community of Kbin don’t enjoy as well as the creator of Kbin has had some personal issues as of late and has publicly said they won’t be able to work on the project for a bit. Also Kbin has had a lot of errors and slowdown as of late what Mbin has and is working on fixing regularly what is really nice.
It’s not a bad thing, gives you the option to read them on the Fediverse and it proves that the Fediverse could possibly be the future of Social Media. It’s good to see other people want to see it grow.
If people don’t like it then personally block it, the only reason for blocking a whole instance, instance wide is if it has morals that conflict to much such as a Anti-LGBT instance vs a LGBT one.
