I absolutely agree. I’d be super happy if mainstream corpos joined the fediverse just so I could reach my friends from a side I’m comfortable on. I still cannot understand why messengers like Whatsapp aren’t federated.

I have the issue where no engine other than Google gives me answers about topics like this. I’m a Linux user and other search engines give me nonsensical answers at best. :/

How do you use Mastodon, if I may ask? I briefly registered and tried using it but it came off as highly populated with conservatives so I promptly left. :/

I tried Odysee but it was overran with conservative etc. content of people who I feel safe to assume got banned off of YouTube.

The dealbreaker for me with DDG is they use Apple maps as default and don’t let you change it.

I tried it. The appeal to me was it was supposed to be like Google but maybe better but it’s just worse. :(

I use Qwant right now and used it a bit in the past and it’s really bad for my use. I literally always have to swap to Google just to get a result which answers what I check for. :/
