Lemmy will rewrite the image URLs when saving a post.
But instead the URL should be rewritten when loading the post. That way the original URL wouldn’t get lost and it would also work for old posts.
I don’t quite see how paid and federated go together. Would only the users on that platform have to pay while others would be able to access it from their free instances?
Yeah, you answered yourself there. “Federated Reddit”
If I had the energy I would try to build a relay/instance that could translate between the two protocols.
Hopefully it’s a new Lemmy version with all bugs ever removed.
Edit: Coincidentally I had to restart my instance for this comment to be federated.
The main plugin is only to get your posts out to Mastodon. And you need a domain to use it.
There is another plugin to follow people but it’s pretty rudimentary.
It’s even worse for me. I’m a poor clueless volunteer admin and the only user on my instance.
Did you report it, so it can be fixed?
Don’t see cultures mixing as a problem, more of an opportunity. But the moderation really is one. I think that’s an unsolvable blocker.
It would be nice if I could share one post across multiple communities and then have all the comments in just one place. As it is now everyone has to decide for themselves where to comment.
Sounds like Mastodon to me. You can even interact with Lemmy through Mastodon. Though I think it works the other way around. At least not at the moment.
The app won’t have every instance on the planet. You can type in whatever instance you wish.
