My point is that .ml is becoming less and less relevant to Lemmy as a whole as time goes on and as more users join the fediverse. New instances are always good but running down perfectly good ones like Lemmy.world is very regressive and that kind of behavior is what I left reddit to get away from.

Not all instances of Lemmy are run by tankies. Many are run by just Linux enthusiasts.
I think you have misunderstood something. I do not agree with .ml people(tankies and such). And the issue is whether or not a person can just ignore their rantings and simply enjoy Lemmy.world
I have not found it hard at all to just ignore the .ml devs and people in general. Why is this such an issue for literally anyone?

3·1 year agoMy point is just that Lemmy is no longer made up of just Linux nerds. Over the course of the last couple of years the user base has diversified quite a bit.

22·1 year agoI understand that this information is already basically public but there is a thin barrier to the average nitwit user accessing such information and going in a rampage screwing with people who have downvoted them. I’ll say this, if they make it more public I think I will just simply stop voting. I will continue to use Lemmy but only as a passive user.

After the meltdown that occurred when Reddit ultra monetize their API Lemmy acquired a lot more casual users. Especially when makers of Reddit apps switched over to making Lemmy apps instead.

1·1 year agoWell, I stand corrected. You are, indeed, a tankie.
In that case, get fucked. Governments murdering its citizens, or anyone for that matter, for any reason whatsoever is not okay.

14·1 year agoa tankie like me
I’m not sure you understand exactly what a tankie is. I mean, do you really think it’s all right to sacrifice (I.E. straight up murder) people to the ideals of communism and socialism?
Being ultra liberal is fine IMO, even having the attitude that we might have to have use violence to overthrow of our government in order to get liberal ideals to be a part of our system is somewhat okay. But to think that our government, should it become communist, should be allowed to kill people in order to maintain a socialist or communist society is just straight up wrong and as far as I know that’s what a tankie is, someone who thinks that Tiananmen Square and Stalin’s reign of terror was just a necessary evil in order to strengthen the communist societal norm.

Nah, that’s just going back to my original point. Why I commented in this thread at all. Some people were acting like Lemmy was dead cause .ml devs were douche bags.
