i’m legitimately sad about this since i loved having a nice wholesome social media network that actually takes moderation seriously to keep up trolls and harassers :(

because mastodon because dismissed twitter users concerns and thoughts the first exodus and bluesky implemented them in a way that’s closer to twitter.
mastodon had their chance during the first exodus but they refused to listen to what twitter users wanted and shot down things like lists, quote tweets, and privacy controls.
mastodon is very gatekeeper-y
swapping jack dorsey for mike masnick is a mega mega w for bluesky
please google “dustin carmack” and then fediblock threads.
yes but sharkey rose from the ashes :)
general rule of thumb is that if you see a .ml community there’s always a better one on another domain even if there’s not.
that postmessage from nutomic is a classic demonstration of the horseshoe theory.
but not invisionboard

misskey (and the subsequent forks) are better anyway; i still don’t understand why mastodon refuses to add basic features like quote posting
they should also focus on an extensible moderation system like bsky
yeah but who posts to mastodon under public instead of unlisted/quiet public?
A hexbear in that thread is literally claiming that “the soldiers did everything they could to avoid hurting him”
ah the trolly problem defence
this is why you fediblock lemmy ml and h*xbear
probably because reddit just broke the api clients again (including their own app).
it’s meant to be twitter by ui and feel, for sure.
i’d also say it’s meant to be more like twitter from a decade ago when twitter actually had a functioning moderation system and kept toxicity away. the moderation system, which is open sourced and allows anyone to add on to, is one of the best.
i’m subscribed to https://bsky.app/profile/aegis.blue, which blocks or hides antisemites, bigots, racists, transphobes, you name it.
bluesky has a robust moderation system which blocks transphobes, bigots, and racism which is why jack hates it.
i mean it’s solid training but they do realise it’s not limited to mastodon, right?
the slashdot effect has been around for years
mastodon + opt in to bridgyfed is the way
