Ironically, I agree and upvoted this.
RENAULT: And what in heaven’s name brought you to Casablanca?
RICK: My health. I came to Casablanca for the waters.
RENAULT: Waters? What waters? We’re in the desert.
RICK: I was misinformed…

Feature request… Can you add this functionality to allow people to sub to these communities easy. It’s what I’m doing in a little javascript that has helped me tremendously!
- Set a homeInstance type variable (ie; https://lemmy.ml) - manually inputted or select from found instances?
- Add a button that links to "homeInstance + “/search/q/!” + community + “@” + site + “/type/All/sort/TopAll/listing_type/All/community_id/0/creator_id/0/page/1"”
- site is remoteinstance.whatever
That will take someone straight to being able to sub from their instance.
For anyone wanting my javascript that helps with subbing. Check my post here: https://thesimplecorner.org/post/4320

It used a proxy or forced dns servers to allow you on to the internet it seemed “safe”. The user was trying to access websites we used for work. That crazy software takes screenshots of your desktop every few minutes. We worked in the healthcare industry… I forwarded it to our security dept and had to file a HIPAA report…
Terrible software. The persons family didn’t trust their own adult kid… I figured it was some form of religious thing.

I said I’ll search for stuff for work and use reddit if I don’t find it on stack overflow… Lol. (Sysadmin). That’s probably the extent that reddit will ever see me again.
Rick@thesimplecorner.orgto Technology@beehaw.org•Reddit experimenting with blocking mobile browsers12·2 years agoYeah. I’ve been conscious of it too. Moderately anyway. Ublock, pihole, vpn, browser containers, etc… It feels so bizarre that your entire online presence can be used to profile your existence for corporations to try and bleed every ounce of you for profit. I hate it. There are some good privacy communities on here already. Running my own instance and seeing ublock and pihole block literally nothing from Lemmy is incredible. This is pretty much what we wanted. Pure community. Sure there is some small technical stuff to iron out but it’s like 90% there… Already.

Well done askhistorians. Do they know about Lemmy?

I honestly never cared for Twitter too much but I admit I get a lot of news from it (specifically because I am following the ukrainian situation pretty closely).
Rick@thesimplecorner.orgto Technology@beehaw.org•Reddit experimenting with blocking mobile browsers9·2 years agoI think they are just trying to get rid of people that care at this point… Lol.
Rick@thesimplecorner.orgto Fediverse@lemmy.ml•do you think the fediverse could replace popular social media51·2 years agoI agree. It’s been fun and challenging to learn even just as a user. I work in tech and it is a lot of concepts to grasp and understand. So much potential though!
There’s a reason everyone comes to my saloon…
