Odysee is good for privacy, and fine for viewing, but most creators aren’t going to use it as a primary way of distributing their stuff.

If you’re publishing, you want an audience (and preferably a monetization method), and odysee doesn’t have that.

On this video Rossman has 1200 views on Odysee, but over 725K views on youtube.

Almost everyone publishing on Odysee (myself included) do it as a secondary distribution channel, with youtube as the main (because, again, the viewers are there, and it has a monetization method).

Except I’ve seen a bunch of people saying they deleted their reddit history before they deleted their account, because they didn’t want reddit to be able to keep any value from their past contributions.

Now, I don’t know how many valuable comments would be impacted by that, but it is a concern for the same reasons already discussed.

Honestly, many people are turned off by Lemmy tankies.

I keep hearing people commenting about that, but so far I haven’t noticed any particular tankie-ish influence.

Maybe I’m just not choosing the communities where they hang out?

I’ve heard in other lemmy communities that the vetting is mostly an attempt at an anti-spammer( and anti-troll) measure.
