nope, there is another app called memmy
nope, there is another app called memmy
memmy is still in early alpha/beta and resembles Apollo, but it’s pretty good already
currently there is an ios version in testflight but the dev is also working on an android version (not yet available but they said it is about 90% ready)
Wolfenstein 3D, my first ever PC game
my dad gave me a floppy disk from one of his coworkers with instructions on how to navigate and run the game from DOS and I felt like a hacker lol
or the people who now see an opportunity to take over a sub and power-trip
there is no good outcome for reddit with this situation
should be fairly trivial to set up a bot that takes an RSS feed input and then posts the items to a fediverse community
that would require users to subscribe to the specific fediverse community instead of the source RSS feed though
in fact, I follow a Mastodon bot that does exactly this with Steam Deck release notes RSS feed and it works well!
hmm, I guess the responsibility is partially on me to manually find/follow people from other instances to increase the cross-instance federation?
right now I am creating new accounts on all the different fediverse platforms so I can see which UI/UX I prefer, but I would like to eventually use only 1 or 2 accounts if possible
so I signed up for a Calckey account (on calckey.world) but content is extremely limited compared to what I see on Mastodon?
for example: if I search for the hashtag #F1 on calckey the most recent post it finds is from a week ago
this whole federation thing is still a bit confusing at times about what gets federated and where, #F1 is pretty popular on Mastodon.social when I search
for anyone following lemmy from mastodon, is there any way to sort posts by top/hot?
I tried to look up lemmy communities but the feed in mastodon was basically a chronological dump and not optimal
ideally there would be a client that can do chronological feeds AND the reddit-esque post view where items are ranked somehow
I guess kbin.social is the closest thing but I don’t really like their overall interface and it keeps going down or is super slow
according to the github they intend to make an android version as well, so keep your eyes peeled!
I’m using the ios version and it is really good for such an early app
ah, the nostalgia!
I’m gonna crosspost this to [email protected] which is a community for ‘vintage internet’ discussions, and this is perfect
it had an option to export your comments into a .csv, so theoretically you could post them elsewhere if you want
but that could be a lot of work so I understand just leaving comments as they are
I just used Power Delete Suite to remove all my comments and submissions
https://github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite
I am just a drop in the ocean, but I won’t be going back to reddit now that’s I’ve discovered the fediverse
this feels like the internet I fell in love with back in the mid 90s with smaller communities and no corporations trying to control what I interact with
emudeck is awesome!
it has an installation wizard that takes care of like 99% of everything for you
I’m trying to paste the full URL into my lemmy search box but it never found the kbin magazine (I waited over night to check again so it has been a while)
wonder if this is an issue on the kbin side, the lemmy side, or my specific instance?
exactly
keep the low effort users on twitter/reddit and it makes the conversations on mastodon/lemmy feel a million times more fulfilling and engaging because the people that are here actually put in some effort to join
yeah pretty much
spez sees 3rd party users as an obstacle between himself and more money. so he will gladly trade the bad pr and loss of certain users if it means that even a small fraction end up switching to the official app and it gains him another 0.1% in wealth for the IPO
he claimed that old.reddit wasn’t going anywhere, but we all know that it will be crippled to the point of unusability
it’s crypto gambling stuff
