@[email protected] has been pretty bullish on the fediverse for quite a while now. It’s come up a few times on the vergecast over the last year or so. I’m not surprised he wrote this decent explainer!
You’re also on lemmy.world, same as OP. As others have pointed out, that server is having issues, it’s not Jerboa’s fault.
I’ve experienced some laggyness, but that’s it (I’m on Version 0.0.38). It’s hard to tell if issues are Jerboa’s or Lemmy’s fault. For example, this comment wouldn’t submit the first time and I’m typing this on the website. I see you’re on lemmy.world and from what I remember, that’s an instance experiencing some capacity issues, so that might be the source of your problems? If it is a Lemmy bug/your instance’s fault, maybe Jerboa could handle errors more gracefully, so you know what the issue is?
Personally, I like to keeping my password manager and OTP separate but I do love Bitwarden!
It’s been over a year since the last commit and it’s security software, so being unmaintained is dangerous. And it’s not like there’s no other options. My transition to Aegis was very smooth.
andOTP is no longer maintained, so it’s probably best to not suggest it!
And to be honest, I’m not a fan of sources reporting on themselves. Even if I considered this a reputable source (I have no opinion on it either way), I would want a third-party article.
