1 year agoThat was a great read! I can definitely see Meta trying to “hijack” the fediverse. By not collaborating with them, growth will appear to be slower, but the growth the fediverse does have will be due to people that genuinely care about digital freedom and privacy. I think that over time creates a more robust user base than blindly including all those that don’t care.
I’ve been missing an alternative to Facebook that I can use for non-anonymous planning of events and communication in hobby groups etc. and I had never heard of any of the “Facebook-type” federated stuff before!
Now I just need to convince a bunch of people that this is viable to use without being the annoying guy…
