I started with lemmy.ml because I didn’t know what other server to use.
Then I found out that SDF, which I’ve used since 2000 or so, was hosting its own Lemmy instance. Since I’ve already been in that community for decades, I migrated my lemmy there.
Beehaw is really nice as well, that is where my spouse, who has zero Fediverse time, joined.

IBM ThinkPads could be reset if you beamed a certain radio frequency directly at the BIOS chip. It was documented in the user guide as a feature if you were ever locked out, or the system was no longer booting. It’s been 20 years but I doubt that feature ever went away.
Also, it was common on Reddit to be automatically banned from a community if you participated in/subscribed to other communities.
Just being subscribed to certain communities meant that bots would track your comments and downvote you elsewhere.
This lead to artificial groupthink and corporate manipulation of the site due to the bots keeping track of dissent. The Reddit hivemind was seemingly very singular and unified on certain topics because of this behavior.
Regarding the Fediverse, instances blocking other instances are not ideal, but it’s a perk of federation. Alt right sites like Gab and Truth Social are also using these technologies, but have been blocked from federation to the rest of the Fediverse. A single site can quickly and easily devolve into the next Voat or Poal.
Mine was 75MHz and 8MB of RAM. Windows 95 was too heavy but WFW was great.

Great phone that supports LineageOS, postmarketOS, CalyxOS and a few others.
The bootloader can be unlocked and re-locked without penalty. You can remove the battery without issue. It’s designed to be repairable by the owner (but good luck finding parts has been my experience).

Honestly, fuck Bandcamp. I used that platform for years, purchased a huge library, supported artists even when I was about 90% sure that some of them were just resellers providing rips of the original artists music.
And then for no reason at all a few weeks ago, I was asked to verify my account via email. Despite using the correct autosaved password. That email never arrived. Never arrives no matter what I try. So I cannot get back in. Support is like check your spam folder like motherfucker you don’t think that’s the first place I went when I didn’t see the conformation email?
