It looks like that’s toped with some kind of minced garlic, is that all you did to make them garlic knots or did you do more? I’ve started experimenting with breadsticks with my leftover pizza dough but have wanted to try garlic knots.
Nah, folded in sauteed garlic + parmasean and brushed them garlic butter like the other reply said. I am of the opinion that it’s really too plain without doctoring the dough.
Usually there’s more folded into the dough as well, I would suggest roasting or sautéing the garlic first to take some of the edge off it.
Another way is to make garlic butter (by sautéing minced garlic in the butter,) and using that as a bit of a wash. Depends if people like bits of garlic in the dough or not. Kids will mostly be “nope”.
Don’t brown the butter, though. That’ll happen in the oven.
