Oh, believe me, I do listen, and I learn about things that I use on a regular basis. Based on my understanding of the ActivityPub protocol, I sincerely believe that concerns about Threads are exaggerated. It’s very cult-like, with talk of “pacts” and tendencies towards prophecy and a “purity” mentality.
So much fear mongering.
I don’t want my software pushing propaganda on me. Thanks but no thanks.
Ernest said he didn’t introduce bad code on purpose:
I assure you that I didn’t intentionally push incorrect code into the repository. These were my first lines of code in a really long time. I simply got involved in other things that I wanted to finish first, and I noticed the edge case in the meantime, but it wasn’t a priority.
Kbin magazines can sort of aggregate content through tags.
@waterhouse I also would like this feature.
Hell yea
You’re absolutely right, and I think you’ve helped me figure out a bit more precisely what I’m looking for. Particularly this:
Distributed ownership of a wiki is definitely a good idea, but i don’t see the benefit of it being federated.
Decentralization is what I’m after, not necessarily federation.
I just figured since the Fediverse is so awesome for everything else, why not shoehorn a wiki into it? lol.
You’re absolutely right though, a pinned thread could accomplish a similar function as a Reddit wiki page.
By that logic, the Fediverse is already irrelevant, because it has fewer features and fewer users than major corporate social media platforms.
