Very cool. I imagine having threads using the protocol helps a fair bit.

Ooh ok - I thought this project was due to be discontinued good to see it ticking over.
Great to see he’s enthusiastic about it, not sure genpop is though.

It’s more like - what if I just posted here on The Verge, and you could follow me on Mastodon natively? That’s way bigger than ICQ, I think.
The idea you could post from your own business/personal/group website and not have to run through social an intermediary that holds you hostage is a killer feature.
It would have been more interesting as an independent activitpub connected service to help illustrate Fediverse != mastodon. Dont really need another twit app though.
Definitely worth checking out friendica.
Hopefully this becomes more normalised. The idea that a company runs their own site, but not social now seems a bit backward.
A different approach which is refreshing to see.
I just watched matrix 4, which gives me the same vibes as ME:A. Nice to revisit the universe but a lot of talk, busywork with no story and nothing new. The direct to video comment below seems apt.
Good setup, good engine, nicely rendered different worlds, not much going on. Like the matrix, could have been worthy in someone else’s hands.
However worth playing at budget price, just set expectations.
Probably just lock the community and pin a redirect? Not sure if more can be done.
I have to get back to that one, I had a pc that was locking up constantly - never finished it.
This is in my top 10. Massive game and so deep with the side quests. I loved that you could wander off and discover these little mini stories in any direction. Spoiled me a bit for other games where you had to collect rocks or something (cough: DA:I)
Check the sidebar - it’s a generalist gaming community so share away. As a note there is also a dedicated ttrp community at [email protected] which can be joined from beehaw.
It’s quite interesting as I think the twitter migration put the focus on mastodon for a while and this place became quieter and then Reddit didn’t want to be left out so the spotlight is now here and kbin. If only Instagram could join the fun pixelfed would get a bump.
A big issue - Google suddenly does something / requires something that breaks things from the norm, and it isn’t Google that has to deal with the flood of ‘why is it broken??? I didnt change anything!! I pay you money - FIX IT emails’ because they dont provide immediate or any support. See also microsoft et al
It’s getting to the point I might need to use the subscribed tab rather than new
Also a good point. I had an instance crash and burn without warning. It was only a backup login, which was more open but still, all the info has gone.
Most instances that shut down were small ones that didn’t grow.
A consideration is to check which instances are blocked. (See the instances link in the footer to check) to ensure the server doesnt block a specific instance you want to view.
Having been a lemmy resident for a while (this being my second account and someone who doesnt visit lemmygrad at all) is that in my experience the Devs conduct themselves professionally, impartially and generally have the patience of saints.
If you decide to stay here for a while you might form the same impression.
Worth checking out even if just to experience a different approach than the big beast.
Calkey lemmy community at @[email protected]
Yeah it’s detrimental that approaches used in other apps don’t render in mastodon. It weakens the potential of the fediverse, and for those that understand fedi = mastodon. Who knows how it will react to proposals for groups etc.
