Took me the whole day. The new migrations require PostgreSQL version 15, and my Akkoma and Lemmy are using a shared database server of version 13. First shut down both services, then update Debian from 11 to 12, PostgreSQL from 13 to 15 and after all this, redeploy Lemmy to start the migrations. The new Lemmy queries use more RAM compared to the previous version, so the database was getting OOM and I needed to upgrade to a bigger instance.
Not fun, but everything works now and is stable.
From these write.as has the best writing capabilities, but the federation is push only. You can publish to fediverse and follow the posts from Mastodon, Akkoma et.al. None of the replies are visible from the blog.
The editor and layout is superb though, so worth a try at least.
WordPress has a fediverse plugin I haven’t tried, but it is supposed to be quite good. Maybe things change when Tumblr joins the fediverse, we’ll see…
Mastodon/Akkoma/Calckey/Misskey/Pleroma side of the fediverse is somewhere over 10 million users right now and it’s already starting to be quite active and having lots of quality content. It went from less than a million users to the current numbers in about six months. We’ll see where Lemmy is in December…
I know, I was trolling a bit.
There’s two shops here in Berlin that sell guanciale, and pecorino romano is quite easy to find too. It took me a few years to perfect my carbonara, but I can make it quite good nowadays.
If you go into any restaurant and order carbonara here, you get cream and bacon. Oh, oh, and the last time I was in the US, I had to see the Olive Garden with my own eyes. I got some trolly pictures there, take a look at their idea of what carbonara is:
Took me a while to understand where the name carbonara comes from. In Italy it means the coal miner. So you put enough black pepper to it that they look like a little coal pieces sprinkled around the pasta. Delicious.
Did you ask them what kind of cream and bacon they used, so we can make it at home 🚎
Looks delicious, one of my favorite pastas.
And then again a lot of queer/trans community is very active in there. And same for Rust/NixOS community.
What I like about Lemmy is how it’s UI and backend are completely separate. I’ve seen others already asking for old.reddit type of an interface, so it is just a matter of time now…
Do we need to get everyone here? My dream would be to find a community of people who can communicate in a civil way and offer ideas that are interesting. We are getting there quite fast already.
If you run Akkoma, you can choose the character limit. My instance has 5000 as the limit. And the same apps work, you can even use the Mastodon frontend with it.
Mastodon, Akkoma, Pleroma, Calckey and Misskey together are somewhere in 15-16M users. There is already so much content it is impossible to catch it all. And it is still growing.
God damn, Linus Torvalds is roasting Nazi trolls in there, it is awesome.
I would definitely say the whole Twitter-like side of Fediverse really took off…
This is a big deal for me too. Rust is my main language, which makes it easier to contribute.
Tumblr to Add Support for ActivityPub
If they do this, you can follow Tumblr posts from Lemmy, Akkoma, Mastodon et.al.
And Akkoma, and Calckey, and Pleroma, and soon Tumblr…
There are other servers too working with the same idea as Mastodon which are cheaper to run, such as Akkoma and Calckey. It is a very active network and I love to use both: Lemmy and Akkoma every day.
Would be surprised if it didn’t work with Proton…
100% this. Couldn’t say it better by myself.
I loved it and even better I loved the DLCs when they were released. Too bad I cannot really replay them, I just remember too well what happens in the beginning and it somehow lost the replay value. I wish I could forget the game and start it again.
People tell me to try the Dark Souls series, which I am planning to do when I have some time.
Damn. Take the upvote.
