I hate teams with such a passion, i genuinely got upset reading the comparison

Maybe time for an integrity check or reinstall. Big updates like this can fudge things up
Yeah its almost more if a feeling than a cold cut difference.
I just saw that he implemented ship travel by now, which sounds nuts. I also really hope it gets to a point where a proper game loop works
Probably the one project I’ve been following the longest.
I honestly didn’t know that about spelunky, I never really got into it.
After looking it up a bit, would you count the Tunnel Man into meta progression? Obviously not the same as unlockeables and powerups in RogueLegacy etc.
quick Q since I keep reading about it, are Crawl and DCSS the same thing?
Oh if you don’t know it yet, check out Ultima Ratio Regum.
Still in development but super impressive
My first real foray into roguelikes was Nethack.
Absolutely overwhelming but bit by bit i figured out the controls and found a decent android client to mess around in.
Never ascended, but had some good runs :)
Adding to what @[email protected] says:
Roguelites like dead cells etc draw inspiration and mechanics from roguelikes.
The main differences are rogue etc are tile- and turn based in a sense. Nothing moves unless you move.
And the in depth meta progression in the modern rogue lites wasn’t really a thing in roguelikes.
I remember in Nethack you could technically remove some monster types permanently and find “bones” of former runs but that’s about it.
Exactly. Preordering has zero real world benefits
One of those games that needed to get some proper direction to really shine it up.
Same with that newer competitor, i forget the name. Looks slightly prettier but also just as janky
Coming back and feeling rusty as hell is always a struggle.
But when the first slingshot works, the first nade pops perfectly or you get that execution off its sooo badass every time
We got the copy in the helmet. Our boy came home T_T
Why annoying? There are tons of resources to load up a build if that’s what breaks the deal for you.
Speculations are:
Is the game good?
Is the game playable?
Is the game gonna be delayed?
Is the dlc actually gonna come?
When? Delayed?
At what price?
What scope will it have?
Will it be worth it?
Will the story be good enough that you want more of it?
It seems incredibly silly to me to pre purchase a game that you can play at no additional cost anyway if you have GP solely on the hypothesis of maybe saving money on a dlc that will most likely cost significantly less than the base game.
You’ll save money on the dlc you know next to nothing about by paying a lot more on the base game.
Its your money but the idea is absurd to me.
Just wait until its out before you start speculating about dlc.
Not exactly the same but check out Kenshi. It’s also more like Wasteland than it is like FO but i can’t recommend it enough.
Post apocalyptic weird low-tech scifi sandbox.
Important to note, its completely open ended. No story. But quite a lot of stuff to do, factions to keep tabs on, settlements to build and manage, people to recruit… lots of moddability.
You’ll have to find your own purpose out there.
Oh and it’s crippling difficulty can be daunting.
Check out the new launchers they got, they claim to support Linux:

100% i should’ve mentioned that
Escape from Tarkov with a few buddies, counterstrike with another group.
Both groups I sometimes play a variety of other stuff with but these two are the main stays
