For me it just works. But maybe it’s because I made this Android setting?

Uber is learning from social media apps
Well, software has gotten bloater in the past 3 decades…
If your cub understressed when I wrong, that is legend
I was sad to learn, that companies will to whatever makes them money within the confines of how strongly they’re being watched.
Companies only care about sustainability, as soon as the customers care about it. However, if the customers only care about superficial sustainability, then that’s what they’ll get…

Profit making as intended
It’s so sad, that what you’re saying isn’t totally new to me but has happened on a few occasions already:(
You don’t want a ad-optimised platform??
Self destruction Speedrun - expert strats 😎
I really hope that people more appreciate the Fediverse stuff. After all, these aspects are exactly what is needed to avoid such Reddit and Digg drama from repeating again.
The current Reddit fiasco is a great way to now move the people off Reddit and to Lemmy:

LOL. When I read the post title my reaction was exactly this - word for word 😆
Fair point. I hadn’t thought much about the bandwidth and storage stuff. Reddit and co. are comparitively cheaper.
What about YouTube?
I looked online and there seems to be PeerTube at least.
So much!
It’s just hard to really focus on the content. Short term chatting? Ok! Longterm discussion? BAD!
Personal Knowledge Management Apps / Note-Taking Apps.
After EverNote and Co. many people got angry / fustrated.
Since I found https://obsidian.md I’m actually happy with everything - as the plugin’s are open-source, it’s flexible and there is no lock-in as it’s all simply markdown format. ObsidianMD is just a markdown viewer - but with superious UX. There are also alternatives to that like Logseq though.
After seeing this, I cannot imagine anymore to use something like Google Notes, OneNote, etc.
I think Discord is still too new and still in the phase where they’re baiting users on their platform with superious UX and “verything is easy”. They haven’t yet started shitting on their users. But who knows ^^
While I can understand your sentiment, the problem is that many people simply didn’t care, and hence they never demanded that from their providers or moved away when they added such anti-competitite policies.
For the large majority of humans, even understanding what the hell the internet is and what computers do is still a mystery. I can understand, that for most people, it was difficult enough to get used to email and cloud stuff in the first place.
But now, over the past decade, many people have often experienced the problems of corporate-owned non-decentralised services. (Twitter, EverNote, etc.)
And with these experiences, it’s much easier to convince and have people move over to alternatives.
Again. I understand why you’re ‘angry’. And I feel that too. But I also see, that many people don’t care and simply take the most comfortable options as they don’t see the risks in lock-in.
Can you explain what you mean by that?
