Install this User Style (requires a browser extension) to make Lemmy look better.
I just whipped this up in a few minutes so there is more to do but whatever. Enjoy.
Honestly its better for reddit to die. The content is community created and it should be community owned. Sure the fediverse has some things people are not used to but the users are running the instances of the sites themselves. By us for us. The code is free and open source so if a new feature is requested it can be added etc. Also there is no big company demanding profits above all else. Its a labor of love.
It will take time but if many of the users who migrated stick with it it will grow organically from there
I really hope that people more appreciate the Fediverse stuff. After all, these aspects are exactly what is needed to avoid such Reddit and Digg drama from repeating again.
The current Reddit fiasco is a great way to now move the people off Reddit and to Lemmy:
It will be sufficient if enough aktiv users find fediverse more attractive, then reddit will just turn into a repost and spam desert. Like the follow function, only used by only fans bots.
By us for us

Looks great! Is this compatible with Lemmy’s dark theme?
Yep, works in Dark. Looks great! Thanks @[email protected]
Dude, that looks great! Awesome job!
I think it would be awesome, if you can get this merged into the UI of Lemmy! That way all users (not just the ones that know about this) can benefit from it.
Highly agree! Any plans to create a PR, OP?
No, the whole thing is too much like work. The CSS has no license so anyone is free to rip it off and use it - someone who has already set up their lemmy development environment would be able to incorporate this CSS in a few minutes.
Plus I’m sure the devs are frantically dealing with far more important issues to do with scaling, spam and moderation so they won’t get to my PR for months. This user script approach gets a result out there immediately.
How does one use this?
You need a browser extension. On Firefox it’s called “Stylus”. Once you’ve installed that, go to https://userstyles.world/style/10301 and click the ‘install’ button.
I’m not sure what the equivalent Chrome extension is but userstyles.world will tell you.
I really wish there’s a style to make it look like old.reddit tbfh, a more no-frills UI etc
Yeah. I would have gone further but the html has few IDs and Class attributes so it’s not always very easy to target the CSS. I might have another go at it tomorrow.
