Okay.
So like, you realize if you don’t want to use threads you don’t have to, right? Just because other people like it doesn’t mean you have to turn into a cranky curmudgeon.
Why turn to insults just because we have different views on things?

I’m not a fan of grass, horrible invasive monoculture that harms the native insect populations. I’ll blow some dandelions for you though if that helps you feel safer about my social media preferences.
I don’t even use Facebook nor have I ever.
I was more of a Google+ kind of nerd.
“Aspects of Instagram exacerbate each other to create a perfect storm,” said one internal report, which said pressure to share only the best moments and to look perfect could pitch teenagers into depression, low self-esteem and eating disorders.
“Issues like negative social comparison and anxiety exist in the world, so they’re going to exist on social media too,” Newton said. “That doesn’t change the fact that we take these findings seriously, and we set up a specific effort to respond to this research and change Instagram for the better.”
Yes it’s true, looking at pictures of pretty people all day can make some people feel less pretty about themselves. Shocking, I know.
Odd how you left out the part about them trying to use the study to make instagram better. Totally no bias on your part!
Would you be more or less upset if they didn’t care to study it at all? Genuinely curious how you think them trying to understand their platform better makes you angry.
I’ve used threads since it was released out of curiosity, and it’s so far got some of the best moderation I’ve ever seen.
No joke, it seems like they are trying their best to make it as friendly and wholesome as possible.
So many women and minorities uplifting and helping each other, it was honestly quite shocking.
On twitter, I sometimes spend a couple hours just reporting hateful people, and only one or two reports ever gets acted on, everyone else seems to get a pass to hate.
But on Threads, I’ve yet to even need to report a single post, it’s kinda eerie.
I am on Threads my guy, this is the internet you can be in multiple places at once.
Also, how am I bothering everyone else?
Are y’all not ganging up on me and my opinion? Does it bother you guys to be bullies to someone for sharing a dissenting voice to yours?
I’m sorry if having a choice bothers you, I’m sorry if hearing something opposite of what you want bothers you.
Nobody is asking you to be a jerk to people who differ in what they would like.
Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
*holy shit y’all took this post seriously, what kind of extremism left Reddit?!?
Thanks for your concern about me!
Don’t worry, I do use threads and enjoy it quite a bit!
It’s easily the friendliest social media I’ve ever used, and I’ve never even had a Facebook account!
It’s sweet you think lil ole us using the internet actually affects things on the grand scheme of billions of users, though! Bless your heart!
They don’t, they just really really hate social media. That’s why they’re here, after all.
Shhhhh people are scared here, just go with it if you care about people being mean to you for having a different opinion and/or enjoying something they are afraid of. (Which clearly makes you evil)
Yep.
But I gotta admit watching all these old cis straight white dudes get terrified of social media is at least quite entertaining!
I use threads because it’s actually an uplifting and wholesome social media platform filled with helpful people who support each other.
Where can I get in on this paid shill deal for simply enjoying something without even thinking about all that crazy emotional stuff you guys are spewing?
Why are people not allowed to do that if they want to?
Welcome to Lemmy!
It’s like Reddit with the provocative takes and hyperbole, but even more extreme somehow!
This place is hilarious.
What I don’t understand is why you don’t support us using our voices to support defederation.
Because you should let us adults decide for ourselves personally what content we want to see here, not attempt to block and censor stuff JUST BECAUSE TOU DON’T LIKE IT.
Let people choose for themselves, that’s all I’ve ever been advocating for here, user choice.
If the people overwhelmingly want it defederated from their preferred servers, then do it.
I don’t ultimately care if servers decide to block it, as long as it’s done properly.
People here deserve to have that choice, that was always the point of decentralization.
Or you could just not ask your admin to block Threads for everyone else if you personally don’t want to see it.
Seems pretty straightforward which option leaves users the choice to decide for themselves what they want to see.
That way neither of us has to pretend to give a fuck what the other thinks. Hooray!
Yeah bro I’m super curious why you get to decide for all of us what content we can see here. Please answer that I guess?
If you can’t find an instance to follow that federates with them, then that just means the thing you want is deeply, deeply unpopular.
MFer how you expect me to find any if you keep going around begging them to wholesale block access.
Just don’t subscribe to it, or block it yourself! You don’t get to decide for everyone else what content they can access here
Well fucking said.
lol moderator removed my comment simply saying I enjoy using Threads!
You guys are hilarious!
